Grassroots organization Catalan National Assembly joins a world-wide platform based on the values of democracy, egalitarianism, and pacifism, as it seeks to actively participate and contribute to international campaigns and initiatives.
The Catalan National Assembly has applied for full membership of the Progressive International, a movement born of the call for all progressive forces in the world to form a common front fostered by the Democracy in Europe Movement (DiEM25) and the Sanders Institute. The Progressive International is a conglomerate of workers’ unions, indigenous peoples’ organizations, political parties, anti-racist, LGTBI and Feminist organizations, as well as many other interest groups and political organizations that defend collective rights, be they economic, social, civic or political.
By joining the international platform as a member organization, the Assembly seeks to take an active part in international campaigns and initiatives , amplifying the social and political message of the organization and the Catalan self-determination movement, gaining access to tools and training in activism and political advocacy, and participating in a global exchange of ideas, policies, and mobilization frameworks.
Our support for the Progressive International is one of many actions that the Assembly has promoted abroad in recent years, including the European Citizen’s Initiative, the report on Spain’s human rights violations presented to the UN Working Group of Arbitrary Detentions, as well as membership of the Unrepresented Nations’ and Peoples Organization, among others.
